A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR READERS AND FEEDERS
May all your gods be with you and your path through the next two years be smooth...
In a blatant attempt to keep the tills ringing, we are briefly extending our much plagiarised WORMS menu. It is now available on a Saturday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm, two courses for an unbelievable £12.50. Sometimes we might require you to relinquish your table by 8pm. We will of course be happy to serve you coffee & drinks at the sofas.
Let's be (almost) Frank
7th February 2009
Since first mooting this idea, some months ago, the grand plan has changed somewhat and apparently Keith is going to be a bit less Frank, and a bit more other crooners – particularly in the first half of his inaugural, head-lining show at The Walls.
Keith and our family go back a long way – we met at one of the first nights of the long gone restaurant , ‘Starling Castle’ and we’ve been thick as thieves ever since. Ably supported by our resident pianist & songstress Gaenor Ellis and a surprise addition on guitar, the show will be varied. It will be a really good evening – miss it at your peril.

The annual festival of love and romance is once again upon us, and this year it arrives on a Saturday.
So if you are committed to doing a really excellent job of racking up a significant bundle of brownie points with the light of your life – we are a safe pair of hands.
As is always the case, the limiting factor on this evening will be the number of tables of two we will be able to use to accommodate love struck diners.
The menu is one of our spectacularly innuendo-ridden offerings of tongue in cheek dishes (none of them feature either tongue or cheek).
Cottage Bookings
We bring you a continual reminder that we have a very excellent holiday cottage less than a mile from The Walls. This warm and welcoming bolt-hole sleeps 4 in 2 super-king size beds (or twins), each with their own bathroom.
For full details and this year’s prices please visit our us at www.thecourtyardcottage.co.uk. So, if the thought of having to put up with dreadful, annoying relatives in your own home is too much, then post them our way!
The Walls principal charity 2009
How a business deals with its approach to charities and worthy causes has always been a difficult issue. We hate saying “No” to anybody trying to help others and rarely do. So up and until now we have dealt with charities on a piecemeal basis.
However for 2009, following an admirable and well thought out proposal, from Rosie Piesse,- one of our excellent front of house team- we now have a single nominated charity for the year.
This years charity, is “ Severn Hospice” and resisting the obvious, “How much do Severn Hospice?” , Answer, “An awful lot more than one horse” . We are thrilled to support this serious and hard working charity.
Severn Hospice runs two residential units in Shrewsbury & Telford and has 2 day centres in Bicton Heath and Newtown. ‘Severn Hospice’ needs £5 million every year to keep this service running so they need our help! Keep a look out for events and fundraisers throughout the year or simply make a small donation …
N.B. We are still very much in the market of providing an excellent venue for all sorts of charity events and supporting other charities.

Linda Scanlon LIVE
20th February2009
One half of Klonakilty: is it Klona or Kilty – no it’s … Linda Scanlon
The biggest selling recording artist in Portugal plays live and unplugged and for completely FREE at The Walls.
I believe her music might be pushed kicking and screaming into a ‘progressive folk’ pigeon hole. There is absolutely no doubting her talent and charm and on a sleepy Friday in February, it must be worth polishing your sandals, darning your best Arran jumper and scraping the porridge out of your beard to venture forth for a bit of Celtic culture.
Born in County Wicklow, Linda began her singing career at the age of 11, achieving success in a number of traditional Irish singing contests before turning professional and heading up Irish band The Rogues. Since 1998, Linda has toured and performed regularly in the USA, Spain, Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.
The Walls showcase will include a mix of traditional Irish songs, contemporary ballads and covers, featuring Linda on vocals, guitar, bodhran and tin whistle. Local guitarist Amos Cooper will join Linda on stage to accompany some of the songs. Show kindly sponsored by The Forge recording studio, Oswestry & Systems Workshops
