“A HUGE THANK YOU!”
What a sensational month we have had in February! I would like to thank all of you that made the effort to come and visit us over the last few weeks. I would also like to give special thanks to Phil Beaumont for his sterling work in putting together and playing the drums at the spectacular “Stranger by the Minute” night. It certainly ranked in my personal top three of huge nights at The Walls.
THE £10.00 FOR TWO COURSES OFFER
As it has been such a success in the first two months of this year we are going to extend our special menu of high quality food at this silly price until further notice! Mr. James Elwood, our resident culinary wizard, and I have completely revised the menu so that those of you that ate with us a lot over the last two months will find some exciting dishes to try, Monday to Thursday.

RED NOSE DAY
Comic Relief 14th March
brought to you by a business dedicated to making your nose red all year round.....
In an attempt to come up with a totally un-original but well tried and tested formula for raising not only a titter or two – but also some money for those less fortunate than ourselves, we have not only written (stolen) a menu entirely composed of Jamie “Naked Chef” Oliver dishes but throughout the day all the huge tips you kindly leave us are being donated to the cause. The menu price of £17.50 for three courses also includes a £2.50 donation to this very worthy cause.
PROTECT THE BEAT
This is a real musical coup! On the 26th of March the first outing at The Walls for this amazing jazz-funk combo. This particular genre is able to bridge significant age and taste boundaries. The Walls is the first UK date on their current tour for this sensational outfit. Those of you used to reading my missives know that I’m not given to hyperbole or overselling of the quality of the acts we book. It is no exaggeration to say that this band, Protect the Beat, are some of the finest exponents of this music.
Should you need further reassurance/information as to the band's pedigree, please visit their web-site, www.protectthebeat.com for details of their pedigree and reviews of their gigs.
Tickets for this very special evening are £27.50 to include an excellent two course dinner and a jazzy cocktail on arrival.
The band is:
Winston Blisset, (bass) played with Phil Collins and Lisa Stansfield,
Derek Nash, (sax) founder of Sax Appeal,
Tony Smith, (guitar) probably the funkiest guitar player in the UK,
Derby Todd, (drums) played with Gary Moore, Billy Cobham,
Pete Adams, (keyboards) plays with Tom Jones.

SUNDAY LUNCH
Sunday lunch just has to be the best and most fun and relaxed time of the entire week at the Walls. We have created a pretty reasonable version of our once hugely trumpeted and famous carvery. There remains only a little cosmetic tinkering with the layout and the visual impact will be fully restored.
Andy Leake has added another string to his bow - “thank God its only a metaphorical one” - and is now chief fire stoker in addition tobeing resident pianist, Pied Piper of Welsh Walls and chief quality control and product taster for Famous Grouse. So the fires are going, the piano has been tuned, the carpets have been cleaned and Sunday lunch at The Walls is once again a “must do” in the Oswestry social calendar.
Since repairing Sunday lunch, we have decided to throw the towel in on Sunday evenings. We are no longer going to be open for dinner but will extend our service times for lunch until last orders at 3.00p.m. We are very sorry if this upsets both of our regular Sunday evening customers but, in all honesty, by the time we’ve cleared up after lunch we are usually too tired to give of our best and we would rather not disappoint.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
While we are still slightly drunk on the euphoria and nostalgia of rebuilding The Walls I am happy to be able to bring you news of the temporary return of one of The Walls’ most legendary employees. Yvonne who hosted front of house for us from the day we opened is making a brief return in her new role as a bit of a female Lovejoy. Yvonne has launched herself on a very successful career as an importer and retailer of French Furniture.
She is setting up shop in the Cae Glas room for 10 days from 29th March. The furniture represents extraordinary value for money and Yvonne will be on hand most days to do what she does best -talk! Drop in and say hello!
JAZZ CLUB
Just a little reminder about jazz club which held its first and very successful meeting on the 28th of February. The next one is March the 28th. Same rules and prices as last time, book early! For more info contact Malcolm Johnson:

ANDY LEAKE SHOWCASE
In an attempt to clear his bar bill, Mr. Leake our resident pianist, is going to host one of his hugely entertaining and immensely popular “One man, his students and dubious musical mates nights” at The Walls on Saturday 5th of April.
Those of you fortunate enough to have witnessed “The Leake Experience” before will know not only how good these evenings are but also what a rich pool of local talent exists in the Oswestry area.
At the last event, local singer/songwriter Lucy Bonner easily managed to upstage Andy and undoubtedly stole the show. Lucy is set to play a major part in this year's event. Tickets for this event are a very modest £25.00 with £7.50 going directly to the artists.
