GREMLINS, TECHNOLOGY and WORM
I would like to publicly apologise for the huge amount of inconvenience caused by our last attempt at e-mailing the WSJ. Apparently it was so successful that large numbers of you received hundreds of copies of the journal in a format the size of a football pitch!
However, this bad start was to get even worse – we employed some heavyweight technical expertise and software – cleaned our system and felt reassured enough to send out an apology. Massive mistake! Same story but worse – some of the less lucky of you received over 200 copies of my apology.
We have sought even more qualified advice since and this morning received, finally, an explanation of the cause of all this technical mayhem. I am afraid the explanation was well beyond my level of understanding, but basically it had absolutely nothing to do with our maligned computers in the office and was something to do with a missing patch in Outlook Express on one of the recipients servers.
Anyway I remain to be convinced that it is safe for us to send out copies of the journal and whilst and until it is proved to be safe we are asking clients to download and print copies of the journal from our website www.the-walls.co.uk.
We had taken great care to try and do this supposedly-simple task correctly but we were well and truly mortified to discover the level of disruption we had caused.
So once again thank you for your patience and our most massive apologies if you were inconvenienced at all.
GEORGE MICHAEL
Tribute evening in aid of Cystic Fibrosis
AUGUST 5th!
See the final performance of the pre-eminent protagonist in the pattern of George Michael tribute act: Mr Robert Lamberti.
Robert had to retire at a very early age to concentrate on looking after his son who is sadly affected by Cystic Fibrosis. The night is in aid of this very worthy cause and Robert’s other shows have always gone down a storm.
Tickets are priced at £28 to include a 2-course meal
LIBBY GLICKSMAN
This is possibly the most eagerly awaited event I can remember scheduling - a fantastic achievement when you consider that Libby has not yet sung many more than 10 songs at The Walls!
To have engendered such a rabid following is testimony to the precocious talent that is Libby!
September 2nd sees Libby in concert as the main attraction i.e. her very first show. She will, of course, be ably supported by our resident pianist and good-time lad-about-town, Mr. Andy Leake, and an ensemble of players he has licked into shape.
Our evening is priced at £27.50.
ART EXHIBITION
We have been extremely lucky to be able to host this latest exhibition of local artist, Louise Diggle. Isn’t Diggle a great surname?!
Louise’s work has an honest and earthy charm and she manages to capture the essence of both cats and cottages with equal finesse. The exhibition stays with us until mid-July. All welcome, and Louise is being very brave and hosting an “Artist in Residence” evening on the 2nd of July from 6pm until 9pm, when she will be available to answer questions, take commissions and skilfully wrap any of your purchases.
Louise works in a variety of media and her work is extremely good value.

LISA MILLS - 8th July
"Gutsy, raunchy, massively accomplished voice that deals with a range of emotions...." These are but a few of the plaudits Lisa has attracted.
They are not my opinions but those of the likes of Robert Plant (Led Zepplin) and Dr John – two of rocks all time legends. If they think she’s good it’s plenty good enough for me to book her.
So, on 8th July, live in a most intimate of settings is the magnificent Lisa in concert. Show follows a high quality two-course dinner and coffee.
Tickets: £25.00
NEW LUNCHTIME OFFERINGS
At lunchtime not everyone has the time or appetite to eat a great deal. So we’ve amended our “Great Deal” to allow you to order either a main course only or a starter and a pudding for the ridiculously reasonable price of £8.50.
This arrangement will last as long as the £12.50 fixed price menu remains in operation.
Calling OENOPHILES, WEEKEND MILLIONAIRES, BON VIVEURS, GOOD TIME CHARLIES and
THE LIKE – even the odd relegated PREMIERSHIP FOOTBALLER
In a wickedly cynical attempt to lever more substantial amounts of your hard earned cash from your wallets, early in the week – on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings all
wines and champagnes on our list priced at £30 or over are half price.
So if you come for dinner on a Monday evening you could enjoy sausage and mash, a pudding and a bottle of the very excellent Chateau Pipeau 2001 and still have change from £45.00! What are you waiting for?
Once the cellar has been depleted of its top-end gems we will fill it back up again with some different and no less exciting top-end belters.
SUMMERTIME AND THE COOKING IS EASY…..
Well it is for me - I've escaped the kitchen!
We are pleased to announce the start of our new A La Carte menu with a more summery range of dishes that will see us through till autumn.
The Menu - We have decided to extend our range of dishes available to vegetarian customers. We also have added another facet to our Sunday lunch by launching our seafood and salad table. This features all manner of poached fish, shellfish, herrings, mussels, etc and is served with an array of carefully prepared salads and new potatoes. This is available as an alternative to our excellent carvery main course.
ANDY LEAKE SHOWCASE 19th August
Following on in his series of spectacular events- the extraordinary (in oh so many ways) Mr. Leake has decided to put the shrapnel & broken biscuits that pass for his reputation on the line again!
Andy has once again scoured the hedgerows and hiding places of Oswestry's not inconsiderable musical talent to put together another of his magnificent shows.
Undeniably all who attended his last magnificent triumph can testify to the quality of these shows. Not to be missed.
Two course dinner & show £25.00.
